Random Thoughts Friday

1. I got a new pair of shoes yesterday for $1.  I love deals like that!

2. I'm really bad at keeping houseplants alive.  The first picture is what our plant looked like in February.  The second is what it looks like now.

3.  Luckily I'm a little better with outdoor plants.  My zinnias started to bloom this week.

4. I'm getting tired of hearing people use the word literally.  It seems to be the word of the year.  I really dislike it when I hear people say things like "I literally laughed my @ss off".  Really?  So you don't have an @ss anymore, interesting.

5. I worked on this project this week.  It took much longer than it should have and it's still not finished.

6. Guess that's all the thoughts I have this week.  Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Remembering...

Remembering my Aunt Ruby who passed away early this morning after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer.

Super Saver

Maybe ya all have already seen this lady and how amazing she is with coupons.  Even if you don't watch the whole video you have to watch around the 3:45 mark to see how much she pays for her original grocery bill of $267.23.  Makes me want to try a little harder to find coupons!

Weekend Recap

David and I went to Sioux Falls on Saturday to do some shopping.  David finally found some new running shoes.  Now he won't have to wear shoes with holes in them while he runs 5Ks.  I was hoping to find some school clothes at Old Navy so I could make use of the discount they were offering teachers.  No such luck.  I did order some stuff online though when we got home from Old Navy (they have a pretty good clearance section right now).

That was pretty much our excitement for the weekend.  We just hung out around home on Sunday and lounged.

The most exciting party of my weekend was finally getting some things in my Etsy store!  I opened one in May but have been too nervous to put anything in it.  I'm starting off small with some paper products.  Today I'm going to work on some HOME signs so I can get some bigger items in there too.

If you want to take a look at my store you can find it here.

Hope ya all have a good week!

Random Thoughts Friday

1. We start school in 25 days (in-service in 23). I’m ready. I’m bored. Remind me in 22 days I said that.

2. I bought a cute hat online the other day. Hopefully I don’t look like a dork in it.
3. I started the bad habit of sleeping in late every day this week. I got up “early” one day – at a quarter to ten. Better get back into a routine a few weeks before school starts.

4. I’m really excited to watch Christmas in July on QVC this weekend. I never buy anything but I love watching. It gives me the Christmas itch though.

5. I’m ready for summer to be over. I’m always ready for winter and summer to go away. I’m not a fan of being hot or cold. Fall and Spring should both be much longer.

6. I’m ready for fall. I’m ready to get out the fall décor and scents, bake pumpkin treats, and step on crunchy leaves.

7. I really need some new shoes for school. The shoes I wear on an almost daily basis are 10 years old. I think it’s time for new shoes. My two biggest problems while shoe shopping are: I have wide feet and I can never find shoes I like in a wide width. And…I’m cheap when it comes to shoes. Seriously cheap, anything over $20 is expensive in my mind.

8. I’m trying to decide if I want to straighten my hair. I have naturally curly hair that has a mind of its own and it's finally shoulder length. I kind of like getting out of bed at 7:15, being able to shower and get ready for school and still be out the door by 7:45 though. Straightening my hair would force me to get out of bed way too early every morning cuz I would have to actually fix it every day. Decisions…decisions.

9. I just requested my free $25 Old Navy gift card from MyPoints this week. That’ll help with school clothes that I need…desperately. Oh! – educators (with paystub) & jr. high and high school students (with school ID) get a 25% discount off their total purchase this weekend at Old Navy (in-store only)! I’m hoping to find some good deals!

Do you have any random thoughts you want to share?
What do you think about the whole straightening my hair situation - yay or nay?
Is it gross that I wear shoes that are 10 years old?

Weekend Recap

Well my flowers made it through the storm on Saturday night.  I lost one sunflower and the rest looked a little sad after the storms but they're still going strong.  We had 3 rounds of  small hail, high winds and about 2 1/2 inches of rain in an hour and a half.  David was working so I just stood on our patio and watched the storm come in.

We were really lucky as some communites around us had trees down, campers tipped over, and roofs torn off.  Because of all the rain we had some flooding.  It didn't take long before it all soaked in though.  The track behind us looked like a small lake with a moat going around it.

Our cul-de-sac was flooded too.  My neighbors driving through it....
I love the bokeh on that picture (that is what that is right?)  Not sure how that happened...

On Sunday I had lunch with my parents.  They came up to look at the furniture stores for a new table & chairs.  My mom got one ordered, so now they'll be back up in a few weeks to pick it all up.

Hope you all have a good week!

Getting to Know You...

1. If you had to choose a country to live in besides USA (or the country you live in), which would it be?
Ireland because my husband would love to go there (and because there are no snakes there!)

2. Which would be worse, wearing flip flops in the snow or wearing gloves in the summer?
Definitely gloves in the summer....I hate being sweaty and I'm sure gloves in hot weather wouldn't help that much

3. Fried or Bake and why?
Ummm....depends on the food I guess....fish=fried, potatoes=either way, chicken=either way, yeah..really depends on the food

4. If you were an entertainment reporter, which celeb would you love to interview and why?
Hmm....Daniel*Tosh (Tosh.O on Comedy Central)...he's hilarious

5. What was your favorite book as a preteen/teenager?
I really liked The Babysitter's Club books and R.L. Stine books when I was a preteen

6. List your top 3 guilty pleasure television shows.
The Hills, Pretty Little Liars, Teen Mom

7. What bumper sticker slogan best describes you/your attitude/your life?

8. If you were to join a circus - what performer would you be?
I would never be a circus performer...I can hardly stand to watch some of the performers because I'm afraid they're going to get hurt

Just in case....

We are currently under a tornado watch with the threat of large hail.  I thought I'd take pictures of my flowers in case they get taken out.

This spring I threw some sunflower, wildflower, and zinnia seeds into the ground near our patio.  I didn't think they'd grow so I didn't take much care to spacing the seeds out.  Well, they actually grew and now I have a bunch of flowers packed into a small space.  The sunflowers are about waist high (on me), the wildflowers bloomed (the purply-blue flowers) and the zinnias have buds on them.

Well...the storm is getting closer. There are some cool clouds out there right now.

Time to put the car in the garage!

Weekend Recap

David and I went to Eclipse on Friday afternoon.  There were about 8 people in there, including us.  They didn't have the surround sound on which ticked me off.  Anyway, I thought it was ok.

David ran his second 5K Saturday morning.  There were a lot more people in this race than in the last one he ran.  He did really well and finished about a minute and a half faster than his first race.  He wasn't very impressed with his time though.  I thought he did really well considering it was really humid and he still finished in less time than his last one.

Blurry pic of the start of the race:

Crossing the finish line:

I spent the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon with my mom.  We wandered around Arts in the Park for part of the morning.  It was really hot and there were a lot of people.  I get really annoyed in large crowds, I'm like my dad in that way.  My mom bought a wallet but that was the only purchase made at the park.  I saw some things I would have liked to have had but my rule is: If I could make it I won't buy it.....even if I have no intentions of making it.  The prices on some of that stuff are ridiculous!

I took a nap Saturday afternoon which usually isn't a good idea.  I try not to take naps because I normally wake up with no motivation and just want to lie around.  This day was no different, but I got dressed again anyway so David and I could head out to the park for some food.  He had his annual 10" polish sausage and I had some fry bread.

Saturday night I went to my friend Christa's house for her bachelorette party.  Her MOH did a really good job putting together some fun games.  In this picture Christa is getting ready to put her cake in the oven that she had to make for one game.

She had to answer questions about her fiance.  If she got it wrong she had to guess which ingredient (and how much) went into the cake.  If she got it right she was told the measurement but not the ingredient.  She's not a cook or a baker so it was pretty funny watching her trying to decide what to put it.  Luckily she got a little help from the rest of us so she didn't put in the 1 3/4 cup of baking soda like she had planned.  The finished product actually tasted pretty good!

David and I went back out to the park on Sunday to eat (the food really is the best part).  He tried the alligator and calamari (gross).  He said the alligator just tasted like fish.  I didn't end up eating anything cuz I got too hot but I did have a really good cherry limeade.  We spent the rest of the day just hanging out at home.

Hope you all have a great week!

1. What is YOUR definition of sexy?

Confidence and a sense of humor

2. Would you rather clean up puke or change a poopy diaper?
Neither really bother me....well for kids any way....I would not want to clean up an adult's puke

3. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert until I know someone well....then the other side of me comes out

4. If you had to give up one of your 5 senses for a year..which one would you give up?
Taste....I could eat only healthy stuff for a whole year...think of all the pounds that would just fall off!

5. Cake or Pie?
Pie I think....well it depends I guess....I'd definitely choose a piece of chocolate mousse cake over a piece of blueberry pie....

6. If you could play any character on TV (old or current) who would you play?
Only becuase it's my new summer favorite....Hanna Marin on Pretty Little Liars

7. My favorite website is.....?
Hmm...not sure that I have a favorite.  The three that I'm always logged into are Hotmail, Facebook, and Gmail but I wouldn't say they're my favorites.

8. The highlight of my day is....?
Depends on the day I guess.
