week 27

Baby’s size

Your baby is now the size of a cauliflower. At this point, he may be able to distinguish between your voice and your husband's or partner's voice.
Baby's Length: 14.41 in.
Baby's Weight: 1.93 lb.

How I am feeling
Overall, pretty good.  I had some pains in my pelvic area this week....mostly just really sore like I had been riding a bike for too long.  It makes getting up from sitting and taking those first few steps really hard and going from standing to sitting is painful too.  Basically it makes me feel like an 80 year old woman.  Some days it hurts really bad and others it doesn't hurt at all though so nothing that's too big of a deal.

Baby has days where he's super active and others where I start to wonder what's going on because he moves so little.  On his active days, he seems to like doing somersaults.  Sometimes he gets so wild that it takes my breath away for a second while he rolls around.  It's fun to feel and watch though.

What do I miss
Nothing out of the ordinary.....being able to sleep comfortably, move around easily, lift heavy things, drink caffeine.....

Gender
Boy

Food cravings/aversions
Nothing new

Highlights this week
*This week marked my first week in the 3rd trimester.  I can't believe how fast everything seems to be going now.
* This past Tuesday was exactly three months til my due date.  As I went to bed that night, I was thinking things like "Holy crap, we're having a baby!"  Apparently it's finally sunk in that I won't just be pregnant forever and we're going to have a baby with us shortly.
* Not necessarily a highlight, but holy cow the hormones have kicked in the past couple weeks.  I'm not normally much of a crier but man I'm sappy lately.
* Dave put the crib together over the weekend.  Love seeing it in there as I walk by!
* We ordered a chair for the nursery.

How I am feeling
Most of this week was pretty good but I got hit with a stomach bug Thursday evening that lasted all day Friday.  Ugh, it was rough.  This was the second round of stomach flu that this little guy has rode out with me.

What do I miss
Things are definitely getting harder to do.  Simple tasks are harder...nothing major but I feel myself slowing down a bit already.

Boy :o)

Food cravings/aversions
That watermelon that was so good last week now sounds disgusting.  Probably because it was the last thing I ate the other day before I got sick.  Rainbow chip frosting has been sounding amazing lately so I looked for some while we were at the store today and I couldn't find any.  I have to head to Walmart tomorrow and you can bet I'll be looking for it while I'm there.

Highlights this week
*We got a letter in the mail stating that our anatomy scan measurements were in the normal range.
*The crib arrived earlier this week.  Dave has plans to put it together the end of this coming week.
*Dave got the curtain rod hung today so we were able to hang the curtains. Love them!

week 25

Baby’s size
Your baby is the size of an acorn squash. He's developing a firm grasp and may reach out and grab the umbilical cord. He can also stick out his tongue!

How I am feeling
Good, tired.  I had some nausea sneak back in this week in the mornings when I'd wake up.

What do I miss
Still just miss being able to sleep comfortably.

Gender
Boy

Food cravings/aversions
Not so much of a craving, but I'm loving watermelon.  I'm glad the ones in the store finally taste good but I can't wait until the melons back home are ready.  Nothing better than a Forestburg melon.

Highlights this week
*I got the dresser done.  What a project that turned out to be.  So glad to be finished with it.
*My mom came up Friday afternoon and spent the night with us.  We went to Sioux Falls Saturday to do a little shopping.
*We had our follow-up anatomy scan Friday afternoon.  The baby didn't cooperate the first time around so we had to go back to get some pictures that the tech wasn't able to get.  We still didn't get to see a 3D image of his face though. :o(  He had his hands and feet up by his face, which is the same thing he did the first time, so we weren't able to get a good look at him.  We do go back for another scan in August (due to my overactive thyroid) so maybe we'll get a look then.
*We ordered the crib.
*Dave cleaned the carpet and washed the walls in the nursery.  Woohoo!  I can officially start decorating in there once the carpet is dry.  So excited to finally get a start!

week 24

Baby’s size
Your baby is as long as an ear of corn. Her nostrils are opening now for "practice breathing"; she'll go through the same motions of real breathing but inhale amniotic fluid instead of air.
Baby's Length: 11.81 in.
Baby's Weight: 1.32 lb.

How I am feeling
I had another good week.  Sleeping has been a lot better since getting a massage on Wednesday.  I toss and turn less and am overall just more comfortable.

What do I miss
Being able to just do things that I want to get done by myself.  My husband isn't moving very quickly on doing the finishing details in the nursery so I can start decorating/getting furniture.  This has caused many (frustrated/hormonal) tears on my end but I know that I can't (safely) get the rest of the room prepped on my own.  Trust me, I've thought about just doing it while he's at work since that's what my stubborn self would normally do but I won't.

Gender
Boy

Food cravings/aversions
I woke up craving McDonald's chicken nuggets Friday morning.  Since the craving was still hanging around at lunch time, I picked some up.  They were good while I was eating them but my stomach wasn't so impressed by them after lunch.

Highlights this week
*I finally found a dresser to refinish for the nursery.  I'll be working on it this week even though it's sitting in our living room for now.
* Getting the massage.
*I had my 24 week check-up on Friday.  Everything looked good and my thyroid level is finally under the acceptable level.  As long as it's still at a good level next month, we won't have to test anymore until after baby arrives.
*The rug I ordered for the nursery arrived this week.  I plan to use touches of houndstooth print throughout the nursery so I was excited to find this rug for a great price awhile back.

week 23

Baby’s size

Your baby is as big as an eggplant. His brain and hearing are more developed this week, and he's beginning to recognize your voice.
Baby's Length: 11.38 in.
Baby's Weight: 1.10 lb

How I am feeling
I'm still feeling good.  Really not much to say here, which I will be thankful for.

What do I miss
Sleeping comfortably.  My shoulders and hips are so sore when I wake up multiple times a night from sleeping on my sides.  My MIL & FIL got me a massage for my birthday and I will be scheduling that soon!

Gender
Boy!

Food cravings/aversions
I decided to lump these together since there really isn't much to put in either category.  I've just been really boring/lucky in these areas.

Highlights this week
*We got the office 99% cleaned out yesterday.  The few things that are left are small and will have a home soon.  Dave wants to shampoo the carpet and wash the walls next so it'll still be a little while yet before any furniture goes in or decorations go up.
